This small 21st century jazz ensemble plays original funky jazz originals by world-class jazz trombonist/composer Ed Byrne.  Eastern Standard Time grooves with hard and intense rhythms blended with modern harmonies and extremely tight, well-rehearsed arrangements.

Ed has worked with many of the world’s finest performing artists, including:  Chet Baker, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Joe Henderson, Tom Harrell, Maynard Ferguson, Charles Mingus, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, The Four Tops, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Archie Shepp, Buddy Rich, Mel Torme, James Brown.  During his 16 years on the New York City music scene, Ed also performed and composed/arranged numerous recordings.  A Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory, he is the recipient of many honors:  He was nominated Best Trombone Soloist by Latin New York magazine; his composition Fenway Funk was nominated for a Grammy Award; Eddie Palmieri’s Unfinished Masterpiece, on which Ed played lead trombone, won a Grammy.
